Fishermen's Village Yacht Basin: Located at the Peace River Marker No. 3, 941-575-3000.

Punta Gorda Marina: Located at 25096 Marion Ave. in Punta Gorda, just west of the U.S. 41 Bridge at the north end of Charlotte Harbor, 941-639-2750.

Burnt Store Marina: Located at Burnt Store Marker No. 2. Privately maintained marina but public welcome, 941-637-0083.

Boca fishing and marinas

Boca Grande Fishing Guides Association, www.bocagrandefishing.com

Boca Grande Marina: With gas, a ship store and a large selection of bait. Located at ICW #2, N 26 degrees 44.832 and W 82 degrees 15.378. Or by car at 224 Harbor Drive, 941-964-2100.

Eldred's Marina: Turn onto the Boca Grande Causeway and Eldred's is on the right. They have a small ship store and bait available, and lots of local charm. Located at 6301 Boca Grande Causeway by car and right next to the Boca Grande Swing Bridge by boat, 941-697-1431.

Uncle Henry's Marina: Turn south between Intracoastal Markers 21 and 22 near the Boca Grande Swing Bridge and follow the channel markers. Located at the north end of Gasparilla Island at 5800 Gasparilla Road. Docking arrangements made by calling ahead of channel 16. Fuel, boat rentals, bait, boat tours, plus a motel and shops, 941-964-0154 for the marina.

Gasparilla Inn Marina: Located at 891 E. Eighth St. in Boca Grande. From the north, look for Intracoastal Marker 4 and 5. From the south, look for Marker 2 (from the south, boaters go under the golf course bridge, which has a 16-foot clearance at normal tide), 941-964-2777.

Whidden's Marina: Located at 190 E. First St., Boca Grande. Boaters come in at the same marker as Boca Grande Marina (Miller's), Intracoastal Marker No. 2. An historic site, Whidden's offers the best of the old-style fishing ambiance that made Boca Grande world-famous, 941-964-2878.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office in Boca Grande reminds boaters that there is a 10-minute docking limit at the public docks on Fifth Street. These are the five northernmost docks across from the Pink Elephant Restaurant. No unattended vessels are allowed.

Marinas near and around Charlotte County

Gasparilla Marina: Off County Road 771 at 15001 Gasparilla Road, Placida, lighted Intracoastal Marker No. 20. Gas is available, plus a well-equipped store and newly opened "Waterside Grill." Storage for large and small boats is located nearby, 941-697-2280.

Cape Haze Marina: Located at 6950 Placida Road, 941-698-1110.

Stump Pass Marina: Located between Intracoastal Markers 17A and 18, 260 Maryland Ave., 941-697-2206 for the bait shop.

Palm Island Marina: Located at 7080 Placida Road, Cape Haze, the marina is a full sales and service facility, 941-697-4356 or 1-800-226-DOCK (3625).

Cabbage Key: Located at Intracoastal Marker 60, boat dockage for dining during breakfast, lunch, and dinner and for those staying on the island at the historic inn or rental cabins, 239-283-2278.

Venice Yacht Club: Located at Intracoastal Marker 14, 1330 Tarpon Center Drive, Venice, 941-488-7708.

Crow's Nest Marina: Located at Venice Inlet Marker 5, 941-484-7661.

Bocilla Marina: Located between Intracoastal Markers 9 and 11 off Charlotte Harbor going into Jug Creek, 239-283-5005.

Jensen's Resort and Marina: Located in the middle of Captiva Island, turn in at Intracoastal Marker 36 to Roosevelt Channel Marker No. 13, 239-472-5800.
