Person of interest sought in Cape attack

June 28, 2009
FL Guide
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help tracking down a person of interest in a crime detectives describe as a brutal attack endured by a Cape Coral man for several hours. Cape police have already arrested one person for the crime - and now they're looking for her son and possibly three others. Luz Marina Huyo, 63, has been taken into custody and charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery, home invasion robbery without a firearm, larceny and vehicle theft. Detectives say she had absolute knowledge of the crime, and her son, Oscar Perez, Jr., 27, is believed to be involved, as well. Perez hasn't been seen since the attack, and officers need your help tracking him down. He was last seen driving a white 1995 Chevy, bearing the Florida tag J46 8VB. According to investigators, the victim was brutally beaten - held for several hours while the suspects continued to terrorize him. At one point, the victim's wife was brought in and was forced to watch the relentless attack of her husband. During the course of the crime, several younger children, who were home at the time, had their lives threatened, as well. The male victim sustained serious injuries, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. A vehicle was stolen from the home, as well as various other electronic items. Police are seeking any information on Perez's whereabouts - as well as the identity of three other Hispanic males who played a role in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000 in cash rewards. The Crime Stoppers hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org.
