San Carlos Island annual Main Street Bazaar takes place Jan. 20

January 10, 2018
FL Guide

Just nine years ago, the annual Main Street Bazaar was a run-of-the-mill small garage sale with a few of the San Carlos Island communities.

Now, it's a mile long event involving much of the island's business and neighborhood communities with hundreds, sometimes a thousand, in attendance.

This year's bazaar will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, beginning at 8 a.m.

Communities up and down Main Street will have tons of treasures to uncover that day, with participation from Oyster Bay, Gulf Cove, Port Carlos Cove, Ebb Tide, Sportsman's Cove, Southern Comfort Storage, Nancy Lane, Oak Street, Emily Lane and others.

Local businesses will also participate, offering special goods and prices.

Besides helping San Carlos Island residents clean out their closets, bazaar coordinator Bill Arendt said the annual event has helped the community come together.

"Everyone has really come together and become real neighbors with each other," he said. "It's a really nice thing."

It's a family friendly treasure hunt with bicycles encouraged.

"You never know what you'll see," Arendt said.
