SW Florida Concert Band final concert of the season April 15

The SW Florida Concert Band featuring trombone soloist Dr. Stewart Ross will perform its final concert of the season on Sunday, April 15. at 2 p.m. at South Fort Myers High School.

At this concert the band will also be awarding its $500 scholarship.

The concert will open with a stirring New Zealand march called Invercargill. The feature trombone soloist will perform Sammy Nestico's Reflective Mood and the band will play Wonderful World of Disney that includes The Mickey Mouse March, It's a Small World, Zip-A Dee Doo-Dah and more. One of our students will play music from Schindler's List. The band will play the Beatles lively Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band including the songs Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, When I am Sixty Four, With a Little Help From My Friends and more. We will play a rock and roll medley with Rock Around the Clock, Shake Rattle and Roll, All Shook Up, Hound Dog and others. The Brass Monkeys quintet will perform music of Gershwin, and the band will play Camino Del Sol with a grooving Spanish rhythm. Dr. Ross will perform the demanding Blue Bells of Scotland trombone solo and for our finale we will play the music of Sinatra including New York New York, The Lady is a Tramp and My Way that will leave you wanting more.

All concerts are free with donations accepted. Information on the 45 member community band, the scholarship program, and other performances can be found on the website

South Fort Myers High School is at 14020 Plantation Road, Fort Myers.
