The Southwest Florida Concert Band will perform "Sunday at the Movies" concert on Sunday Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at South Fort Myers High School, 14020 Plantation Road, Fort Myers.

The 45-member community band will perform a concert of memorable movie melodies that are certain to entertain all audiences, and also feature vocalist Karen Shafer. The concert will start with the theme from the James Bond film "Live and Let Die." The program will ride into the dramatic John Williams music from the movie classic "The Cowboys," starring the iconic John Wayne. You will also hear movie box office hits from "Star Wars" and "Pirates of the Caribbean." And what would be a salute to the movies without a selection from "Disney at the Movies" with all the memorable melodies like "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," "Supercalafragilistic," "Bare Necessities," "Be Our Guest," "Circle of Life" and more sung by our feature vocalist Karen Shafer. The band will boldly go to the stars with music from the movie "Star Trek into Darkness." The group will play music from one of the most famous and timeless classic films ever made, "The Wizard of OZ," featuring a piccolo and tuba solo. We will also perform music from the musical film the "Greatest Showman," which starred Hugh Jackman portraying P.T. Barnum. The concert will also include a rousing march, a trombone feature called "Lassus Trombone" and all of our clarinet section performing the popular Leroy Anderson's "Clarinet Candy" which is certain to get your toes tapping.

It is a not-to-be-missed performance of the newest concert band in Southwest Florida. We hope to see you there.
